Oğuz TUNCAY
Act. Director General for Foreign Relations and European Union
He was born in Ereğli/Konya in 1968. He completed his primary and secondary education in Germany and his high school education in Konya. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Marmara University in 1990. In addition, he received training at the National Security Academy in 2006-2007.
He started his career in 1991 as career officer at the Directorate General (DG) for Services for Workers Abroad of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. Between 1993-1997, he served as Deputy Attaché of Labour and Social Security at the Consulate General of Republic of Türkiye in Munich. He served as Labour and Social Security Attaché at the Consulate General in Dusseldorf between 2001-2005 and at the Consulate General of Köln between 2012-2017.
As part of his duties within the Ministry’s central organization, he worked as Expert for Services for Workers Abroad as of 2000. He served as Advisor to the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in 2005-2007, between 2010-2011, as the Head of Education and Information Department at the DG for Foreign Relations and Services for Workers Abroad of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
He was assigned as Director General for Foreign Relations on 5 August 2020, a position in which he had been acting on behalf since June 2017. As a result of the change in the organizational structure of the Ministry, he continues to serve as Acting Director General for Foreign Relations and European Union as of 22 December 2023.
Oğuz Tuncay has very good command of German and possesses intermediate level English. He is married and has two children.
