The 111th International Labour Conference, organised annually by the International Labour Organization (ILO), was held in Geneva, Switzerland between 5-16 June 2023.

Our Minister Prof. Dr. Vedat Işıkhan also addressed the General Assembly of the Conference with a video message, which was held with the participation of more than five thousand officials consisting of government, employee and employer representatives from 187 member countries of the ILO. In his speech, our Minister evaluated the labour market developments in Türkiye and reaffirmed Türkiye's support to the "Global Coalition for Social Justice" initiative led by the ILO Director General.

At the conference, Ergün Atalay, President of TÜRK-İŞ, representing the working class of our country, and Özgür Burak Akkol, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TİSK, representing the employers' group, made speeches.

The technical committees established within the two-week Conference were followed up by the expert personnel of the General Directorate of Labour and İŞKUR, as well as our General Directorate. The personnel of our Ministry participated in the technical committees where the outputs of the committees and the draft resolutions to be submitted to the General Assembly were negotiated, and actively contributed to ensure that the position of our country was accurately reflected in the work carried out.

Within the scope of the conference, ILO also organised an event on the occasion of the World Day Against Child Labour on 12 June. Heads of State and Government of some ILO member countries also attended the "World of Work Summit" held on 14-15 June 2023 to promote the "Global Coalition for Social Justice" initiative led by the ILO Director-General.

On 16 June 2023, the most important outcome of the Conference, which ended with a closing session, was the adoption of a new international labour standard for skilled apprenticeship.

The delegation of our Ministry participating in the Conference held a number of bilateral meetings at technical level with both the officials of other countries and ILO officials.
