Minister Işıkhan Attended G20 Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting Held in India

Minister of Labour and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan addressed a speech at G20 Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting held in India.

Having thanked Indian Government for hosting the meeting as term president of G20, Minister Işıkhan congratulated all delegates of G20 members on their contributions to Employment Working Group throughout the year.

Minister Işıkhan laid emphasis on the unprecedented change in working life, which resulted from the recent developments rapidly emerging in production methods and basic dynamics of workplaces.

Having voiced the fact that not every region benefits equally from this transformation on a global scale, Minister Işıkhan stated, “While certain countries adapt to this new era by generating novel technology, skills and production methods, several parts of the world have difficulties in keeping up with the pace of this period. As such, one of the primary consequences of this tendency is further deepening of skill deficit worldwide.”

Touching upon endeavours of the Ministry in this regard, Işıkhan continued, “Over the past five years, thanks to vocational training courses and on-the-job training programs, our Ministry has provided nearly 2 million citizens with vocational training, centering on jobs of the future.”

Noting that Republic of Türkiye has been observing centenary of its proclamation and expressing the country’s wish for making a powerful start on the new century, Minister Işıkhan stated, “To this end, in the light of Century of Türkiye vision outlined by Distinguished President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who was democratically elected for a new five-year presidential term, we are aiming to further strengthen our country by means of investment, employment, production, exports and growth.”

"Black Sea Grain Deal Saved Millions from the Risk of Hunger"

Stressing the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in the resolution of global issues, Minister Işıkhan gave the Agreement on Black Sea Grain Initiative as an example, noting that it was made possible thanks to individual efforts exerted by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Işıkhan continued, “As each one of us may appreciate, this deal has saved millions, populating the most impoverished regions of the world in particular, from the risk of hunger.”

In his address, Minister Işıkhan extended thanks to all the countries and international organizations aiding Türkiye in the aftermath of earthquakes, which hit the country in February this year.
