Minister Bilgin Held Talks in Indonesia

Vedat Bilgin, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, held bilateral meetings with his counterparts in Indonesia, to which he travelled for the G20 Labor and Employment Ministerial Meeting.

Firstly, Bilgin had a meeting with Ida Fauziyah, the Minister of Labor Force, who is the Chairman and host of G20, conveying his thanks for the successful meeting and hosting G20 as the Chair. He also stated that priorities in the area of employment are clearly determined, which he considers vital in the post-Covid era.

Minister Fauziyah thanked Minister Bilgin for his participation and support and noted that they look forward to the effective implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation, signed between the two Ministries in 2019, the implementation of which delayed due to the global pandemic.

Minister Bilgin, who also met with Shri Bhupender Yadav, India's Minister of Labor and Employment, who will assume the G20 presidency next year, said that Turkey, with its experience, is ready to support the work in the area of employment within the scope of the Indian G20 Presidency. Expressing their satisfaction with the development of trading relations with Turkey, Minister Yadav put forward that they were grateful for Turkey's support and suggestions.

Finally, Bilgin met with Guy Ryder, the Director General of the International Labor Organization (ILO), and thanked the Director General, whose term of office will end in October, for his work for ten years, underlining the importance that the Ministry attaches to dialogue with social parties and relations with the ILO.

Stressing that he visited Turkey five times during his tenure, Guy Ryder said that the strategic importance of Turkey has recently become more obvious. Ryder noted that Turkey's role in the context of the Syrian Crisis and the recent Ukrainian Crisis was admirable, accentuating that resolving the grain crisis was vital not only for countries struggling with poverty and famine, but also for the whole world.
