Closing Event of the Netherlands Migration Institute (NMI) was Organised


Our Deventer Labour and Social Security Attaché Office participated in the closing event of the Netherlands Migration Institute (NMI) on Thursday, 05 October 2023.

In addition to our Attaché Office, representatives of the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment, the Dutch Insurance Institution (SVB), various non-governmental organisations, NMI board members and employees participated in the event.

During the event, NMI activities from its establishment to the present day were presented and audio-visual presentations were made on its mandate and applications. Our Attaché referred to the long-term positive relationship with the institute and its experts and requested information about the possible services to be provided after 2025.

As it is known, the Netherlands Migration Institute (NMI) is an independent foundation working on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment. Founded on 1 April 1991 in The Hague, the Institute provides services within the scope of the "Remigration Act (Remigratiewet)" in force in the Netherlands.

Among the duties of the Institute; "To enlighten and inform, to provide information, advice and guidance for migrants and refugees who want to return to their country from the Netherlands, to explain the Law on Final Return and related regulations, to assess whether they are entitled to the Law on Final Return or related legal regulations, to advise on the rules regarding departure and arrival from the Netherlands and to provide guidance in the first period after return and post-return".

The activities of the Institute will cease with the final repeal of the "Law of Return" on 31 December 2024. The website of the Institute will remain active until the end of 2025.
