152nd Meeting of the Governmental Committee of the European Social Charter and the European Code of Social Security Held in Strasbourg

The 152nd meeting of the Governmental Committee, one of the supervisory mechanisms of the European Social Charter and the European Code of Social Security, which are Council of Europe instruments to which Türkiye is a Party, was held in Strasbourg, France, from 18 to 22 May 2026.

Representing our Ministry, Labour Experts Atilla Ethem Zeybek and Mehmet Gürdal from our Directorate General attended the 152nd meeting of the Governmental Committee, which is convened twice a year with the participation of government representatives from 42 Council of Europe member states.

Within the framework of the meeting, reports on the European Code of Social Security prepared by ILO experts were presented to the Committee, and decisions concerning 22 countries were adopted. The views of our country regarding the evaluations were conveyed to the Committee by the representatives of our Ministry.

The meeting also addressed the new reporting system and the ongoing reform process concerning the working methods related to the European Social Charter and the European Code of Social Security, which has been underway for the past four years. Furthermore, discussions continued on the “Draft Recommendation on Raising Awareness”.
