The 4th Labour Ministers Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Minister of Labour and Social Security, Jülide Sarıeroğlu attended the meeting.

In her speech, Minister Sarıeroğlu emphasized that the Islamic geography is going through severe challenges and that millions of Muslims are becoming victims of negative events. She continued “We have witnessed the most painful example of this situation during the human tragedy in Syria. Because of the turmoil in their countries, the situation in which millions of our Muslim brothers who have been forced to take refuge in other countries, grieves all of us. We, as Turkey, have been hosting 3,5 million Syrian brothers and sisters in our country who were forced to leave their homeland because of the ongoing domestic unrest and terrorism. We have been doing our best to help them overcome the traumas they have been going through and improve their living standards. However, we know something very well that the biggest help to offer our Syrian brothers and sisters is to rebuild a peaceful and safe environment in their country.”

Minister Sarıeroğlu also touched upon “Olive Branch” and “Euphrates Shield” operations as well as the recognition of the Occupied East Jerusalem as the capital city of Palestinian State by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

Minister Sarıeroğlu expressed her gratitude to the members of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation for their support both after the coup attempt Turkey went through on July 15, 2016 and in the just and legitimate struggle that Turkey has undertaken against terrorism.

Minister Sarıeroğlu also informed the participants about Turkey’s National Employment Strategy, "National Mobilization in Working Life" campaign which we have launched with the call of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and reforms implemented towards the integration of internally displaced people (IDPs), ex-convicts, the disabled, the youth and the women, which deemed disadvantageous to enter in the labour market.
