3rd Meeting of Türkiye – Qatar Joint Committee on Labour Affairs Held in Ankara


The third session of Türkiye-Qatar Joint Committee on Labour Affairs, first of which was held in Doha in 2019 and the second of which was held online due to Covid-19 epidemic in 2020, was hosted by our Ministry in Ankara. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Oğuz TUNCAY, General Director of Foreign Relations, and Mr. Muhammed Hassan AL-OBAIDLY, Undersecretary for Labour Affairs at the Ministry of Labour in Qatar. Before the meeting, the Qatar Delegation was welcomed and hosted by Minister Prof. Dr. Vedat BİLGİN.   

The meeting tackled the steps to be taken to solve the problems of Turkish Workers

In the meeting, the parties discussed the steps that can be taken to resolve the problems faced by Turkish Workers in Qatar, within the scope of Labour Agreement signed between both countries in 1986 and currently in force. 

The first session of the two-day meeting was held at Reşat Moralı Hall of Ministry of Labour and Social Security. The second session was held at the facilities of General Directorate of Turkish Employment Agency. In his opening speech, General Director Mr. Oğuz TUNCAY expressed the pleasure of witnessing that the good relations between the two countries in all fields of cooperation was also observed between two Ministries and he emphasized the significance of exchange of experiences between the parties.

In his speech, Mr. Mohammed Hassan AL-OBAIDLY, Deputy Undersecretary of Qatar Ministry of Labour, stated that they attach importance to meeting the Turkish labour force demand of Qatari companies through the effective implementation of Labour Agreement between the two countries.

The issues discussed at the meeting were placed on record and the minutes were signed by the heads of delegations at the end of the meeting.
