150th Session of Committee of Government Experts on European Social Charter and Code of Social Security was Held in Strasburg
The 150th session of the Committee of Experts, which is one of the monitoring mechanisms of European Social Charter and European Code of Social Security as instruments of the Council of Europe, was held in Strasburg, France on 19-23 May 2025.
As representatives of our Ministry, Labour experts from our Directorate General Selmin Şenel and Atilla Ethem Zeybek attended the first session of this year’s 150th session of Committee of Experts, which is organized twice a year with the participation of representatives from the governments of 42 member countries of the Council of Europe. The Director of Human Rights of the Council also participated in the meeting as guest speaker for the reason that the session was organized for the 150th time.
Within the scope of the session, the reports on European Code of Social Security for the year 2023, which were prepared by experts of ILO, were presented to the Committee; resolutions on 22 countries were adopted. Our Ministry’s representatives conveyed to the Committee the views of our country on the assessments.
Furthermore, the reform process on the methods of work concerning European Social Charter and European Code of Social Security, which was in progress over the past three years and carried out by the Committee of Government Experts and Working Group, was addressed at the session. The Committee Handbook prepared in this regard was adopted.
At the final phase of the session, the preparation process regarding the High-Level Conference on European Social Charter to be held in Moldova on 19 March 2026 was put on the agenda. During the talks, the importance of active participation of member countries in the aforementioned process was underlined, calling for their contribution in the preparations of the Conference.
