Our Geneva Labour and Social Security Counsellor’s Office Participated in the International Meeting on Just Transition in Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)

Fatih Acar from our Geneva Labour and Social Security Counsellor’s Office participated as a speaker on behalf of our country in the meeting titled “Just Transition in NDCs,” which was organized in Geneva by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Geneva Environment Network, with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

At the meeting, the integration of just transition into the NDC 3.0 process, with its dimensions of employment, green jobs, social protection, and social dialogue, was discussed. On behalf of our country, it was emphasized that climate action encompasses not only the environmental dimension but also the social transformation process, and it was stated that just transition should be pursued on the basis of the principles of decent work and “leaving no one behind.”

The meeting concluded with the sharing of experiences among countries and evaluations regarding the ILO’s implementation-oriented support mechanisms.
